St. Simeon Skete, Taylorsville Kentucky USA

With St. Simeon, the God receiver, as our patron, the skete seeks to practice the ideals found in our Rule, The Thousand Day Nazareth. In simplicity and poverty, the skete embraces the struggle of inner life through the practice of the Prayer Rope.

Mumps, A Thing of the Past for Roo

Little Roo, affectionately known as SuperRoo, aka SOOPA-ROO)has survived a pretty severe case of mumps and has returned to Pre-School

Dressed in his school uniform, Roo stands in front of the St. Laurence House Refrigerator, waiting for his lunch to be prepared. I notice the banana cake in his hand...

James informs me that Roo is "eating everything and is hungry all the time". Here is Roo's packed lunch. A Bread roll, fried plantain, and french fries. (High carbs for an active boy). Banana cake in one hand, french fry in the other... ha ha ! Banana Cakes are Fr. Seraphim's favorite, especially when they are made by Kadijah - she has a super special touch when it comes to cooking.
