What a Thanksgiving it was & continues to be. James Mansaray arrives in America!

I was a bit distracted during our Thanksgiving Dinner this year.  I had a certain event on my mind, everyone did.  We knew that James Mansaray, our NHA Director from Freetown, Sierra Leone had boarded a plane bound for the USA the night before and was expected to land at Standiford Field Airport in Kentucky on Thanksgiving Eve.  However, after he boarded in Lungi (Sierra Leone) we had no contact again.   His phone didn't work on our networks here and even as he waited out a layover in Chicago, we weren't sure if he'd cleared his way through Heathrow Airport.   So we waited....

anxiously hoping to see his face.   On the monitor it was reported that the flight was delayed.
Was he on the flight?  Is he okay?

We waited with signs and even a homemade Sierra Leonean Flag!!!!!!!!!!

We tied shoes, and
danced around the Greeting sign... all in anticipation of the moment of arrival....
Finally, the plane arrives and we stand ready to greet James......
...and we wait....
and we wait...........

Suddenly we catch a glimpse of him.......
camera in hand.....
The hugs begin..........
and continue......
smiles and waves ............

We greet in front of the "Kentucky Welcome" of bourbon splashing in the background and the word "ARRIVAL"

joy and excitement
faces matched to phone voices..........
 3-D hugs.....
finally getting to touch and hold "Uncle James" ....
Real live greetings, no more internet photos...
the real thing, here in America........
 wow!
A faithful supporter, Loretta, happened to be returning from visiting friends and recognized the faces of NHA, as well as our Logo on the banner and immediately joined in the celebration.
Before allowing James to walk out into the cold, Ray presented him with a warm coat... (which seems to have become permanently attached to him ever since.)

Its on to experience America...

But first the escalator had to be dealt with.......
white knuckled, James negotiates it........

Check in daily for more adventures both of NHA in America and in Sierra Leone.........

and remember
every donation small or large, aids someone in Sierra Leone

James brings more supplies to Ami's clinic

As Ami records the paperwork for the clinic she runs in the upper provinces of Sierra Leone,

 near Kabala.

James with the help of our good friend Johnny Manga Turey brighten her day with several more NHA boxes full of medicines and supplies.

Ami is running a clinic that cares for 17 villages.

Her days are long and her needs are great.

NHA is always happy to bring her supplies whenever we can.

Piece by piece the medications and supplies are examined and sorted.

James helps Ami and her assistants to go through the items.
He makes sure to explain the medications and their uses if there are any new medicines she has not used before.

James looks around and notices that Ami is low on medications, especially those from our last visit.   It is a good thing that we arrive with supplies at this time.

We are very thankful for Ami's hard work and dedication.  Many lives are being saved because she is there.   She could find an easier load, less patients, less villages but she is dedicated and willing to make sacrifices for others.

NHA is thankful to James Mansaray for making the trips from Freetown to Kabala (and beyond) to make sure she is always supplied.  So many depend on Ami and she depends on NHA.

We are all thankful for those who provided the funding, the medications and the supplies to make these distributions possible.

As always, the NHA Team is doing what it does best ...

.....Pulling together to be there for each other.  One global family, each doing their part, loving our brothers and sisters.   Keep up the fantastic work, we are changing so many lives for the better.

Give today

The Face of our Brother...

As James Mansaray drags another load of medicines (sent from his American NHA Counterparts), through the villages near Kabala,
he meets up with yet another friend.
This man is thin, tired, overworked, hungry and in pain.

The man tells James about his troubles.

His whole body has pain...
but most especially in his knees.

Johnny Manga Turay has come along to help James with the distributions of medications.

Johnny  equips the man with Anti-inflamatory medicines (ibuprofen) and pain rub.

James carefully shows the gentleman

what to do with the rub.

Thanks to all of the NHA Supporters, doing what they can, making a difference in the lives of others.  Maybe... just maybe this guy will get a little bit of relief tonight.   Keep up the good work, friends - there is so much work to be done.

On the road again...

Once again, James Mansaray takes to the road to deliver to villages in Sierra Leone.  He brings medications and supplies
from the USA (crossing the Atlantic) to Sierra Leone - Nazareth House Apostolate is teamwork at its best.

Donated, collected and shipped in America, sorted, packed and distributed in Sierra Leone.
The efficiency by which we accomplish the humanitarian work, despite our smallness, despite our lack of ample funding is amazing.
God does BIG with little!
It is the Nazareth House way to not only bring supplies in,
but to instruct each village how to use what they receive.  And we don't stop there, we don't supply and leave.
Once we find a new village, they become part of the NHA family and are revisited regularly - we will continue to check on them and keep them supplied.   We are a ever-evolving, ever growing, ever loving family at Nazareth House.
There are many villages out there needing attention.  It takes money to ship the medications to Sierra Leone, it takes money to care for those in need.
As the Holiday season closes in on us - think beyond the gifting and the partying of the Holidays... think of those without.
Give a gift that really makes a difference - Give to Nazareth House Apostolate today.

In Memorial of Andrew Abu Bakarr

This morning as I opened my facebook, I saw this post from James Mansaray of Freetown.  My heart sunk in memory of the horror the people of Sierra Leone suffered at the hands of greed. Andrew was going to be a lawyer and the rebels wanted him to join them in their wickedness.   His refusal cost him his life, hacked to death with a machete.   I need say nothing further, what is written is enough.

...this is only a single memory of a life snatched away, there are hundreds and thousands.  All Sierra Leoneans were touched by the icy hand of wickedness in one manner or another.  Everyone  either lost a loved one, had someone in the family that suffered an amputation or endured the atrocities themselves.

Please help Nazareth House Apostolate do all that it can to improve the lives of these peaceful caring people.   This horror was not rooted in them, it was rooted from outsiders who were driven by greed.

Please give today, as a memorial to those who lost their lives, their arms and legs:  Let's show them LOVE, selfless love.   Give today:

    • Ishmail Bintia Kamara Oh man God bless. You made me remember this day and the brutal murder of my man, (RIP) by those wicked monks. I could still remember seeing him a day before and the day he was killed lying down whilst his grave is being dug with very few people around.

    • Vicki Hicks James, your family is our family. You know this. Though, I never met him, we remember Andrew with love. He is of great dignity, conviction and love. Today, Andrew is looking us over, and smiling at what he sees. You are a wonderful brother and have done so much to help your country recover from such wicked greed. Peace and Blessings, my son, we love you.
