St. Simeon Skete, Taylorsville Kentucky USA

With St. Simeon, the God receiver, as our patron, the skete seeks to practice the ideals found in our Rule, The Thousand Day Nazareth. In simplicity and poverty, the skete embraces the struggle of inner life through the practice of the Prayer Rope.

Where is Nazareth House?

While the workers finish placing the tiles
on our NHA Compound in Kabala, Sierra Leone
(ours, that is, as soon as we pay for it - $39,000 left to be paid),
I want to take a quick look over
that which makes Nazareth House Apostolate what it is today.

It is a growing family made up of people of all walks of life brought together to live in the ordinariness of the present moment for the Glory of God.

I have recently had several emails from those visiting our website that ask "What goes on behind the scene at Nazareth House?", "Besides the work in Sierra Leone, what does Nazareth House do?, "What do the Nazareth Houses in the USA do?"

These questions made me realize that we all know what Nazareth House Apostolate does in Sierra Leone. We are giving a hand to our brothers and sisters in that country that are in need. We're supplying Medical Clinics,
feeding the hungry,
making sure babies get a proper start in life,
providing education - you only need scroll through the many previous posts of this blog to see all that has been done.

So what is going on "behind the scene" in the hiddeness of Nazareth House? I'll tell you. We are living our lives, ordinary, everyday lives, finding God in each moment.

If you look, you'll find those of us in Nazareth House in our homes
or even in our private offices
preparing a special place of prayer. It can be a very simple corner
or more involved.
The point is to have a Holy place to draw us away
from the busyness and muchness of our lives and into God.

You'll find us spending time with their families.
We are taking prayer walks.
From the youngest to the oldest
we are all doing our part to live the life of Nazareth.

See us at the local Coffee House or in the grocery store.
Augies Coffee & Cafe, Chico CA

We are packing boxes to send to those in need in Sierra Leone.
And then we are unpacking the boxes once they arrive
and
sorting out the supplies
for distribution.

It takes funding to support the work so we are raising money for NHA. A few weeks ago, Savannah Butler of Maysville, Kentucky decided to have a Nazareth House Apostolate Fund Raiser during the Coffee Hour at St. Johns the Evangelist (ACC).
She sold 11 quarts of blackberries fresh picked from her grandma's garden.
She raised $60!

You will find us smiling
and

laughing.

You will find us crying.

You'll find us sharing conversation
and praying together.

You may even catch a glimpse of us at Jonah House blowing bubbles.

Catch us at one of the Nazareth Chapels
or within your own church.
We'll be
in the city or
in the country. On land or
at the sea.
You'll find us anywhere that life is happening.
and you'll find us when it is lost.

Nazareth, it is a journey, a journey taken together.
Come along, walk with us.

Nazareth House Apostolate wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the family of our dear friend Jerrye Purcell.
May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon her. We now have one more cheering us on from above.
