St. Simeon Skete, Taylorsville Kentucky USA

With St. Simeon, the God receiver, as our patron, the skete seeks to practice the ideals found in our Rule, The Thousand Day Nazareth. In simplicity and poverty, the skete embraces the struggle of inner life through the practice of the Prayer Rope.

The Moment

As James detaches from the things of life

that once devoured the day in the hustle and bustle of the "got to make it big" city life,

he is now settling into the wisdom and joys of simplicity.

Each moment becomes a cherished event, good or bad.

Its the quiet ordinary moments,

like learning to weave a prayer mat with a friend

that make us understand the importance of not wasting a single moment
and the realization that what we've already been given is enough for God
to do what he wants to do in our lives.   The hard part is trusting that...
and that's where faith comes in...
