The day begins very early at St. Simeon Skete with the Morning Offices, the full Remnant Rosary and the Holy Mass. The morning is opened in devotions to God. It is important that you begin your day, shape your day around God. Your first actions of the day are what holds your entire day.
God doesn't want a piece of us, or a piece of our life or a piece of our day... even if we give Him the largest chunk of the day - that's not what God wants. He wants ALL of us. And every part of our day! Jesus doesn't want to be the first in a list among values, He wants to be at the center of everything. Relationship.
Having said that... if we do such a good thing as putting God at the first of our day - what happens during the rest of the day? How much do we allow God to be involved as we go on throughout our day, at work, at the ballgame, as we shop, at the family gathering, at dinner, at the Office Meeting, tending to the garden, cooking meals? Do we have an ongoing relationship where we include God in all that we do.
In my head, I rehearse the Jerry Seinfeld episode where Frank Costanza blurts out these words, "You sayin' you want a piece of me?"

We forget this, especially when we are driving down the road and the driver in front of us is driving 20 miles below speed limit and you are late. You try to pass and he speeds up, even tries to come over on your side and run you off the road while you are passing!. You know what?.... even then?... yes even then, Jesus wants to be your center - in your decisions, in your responses, in you!
