further updates...

Little Emmanuel continues to fill his diapers with the invaders. A phone conversation with his mom today revealed that the larger worms (his mom calls them ROPES) are now coming out. She told us she had taken him to several hospitals, spent lots of money and no one knew what could be wrong with him. She said that NHA had been there for two days and immediately knew he had worms and began to work on him. She says she feels he has "a chance" now.

Little Emmanuel is wearing out from the expulsion of the worms but the little fellow is holding up and fighting strong. He has a lot of spunk and I believe this is helping him make this remarkable progress. I can't wait until I am back in the States and can share his picture with you. Though, sad looking in his condition, you will surely fall in love with this remarkable young child.

More rice drops to families today. It been a hot hot day, the rain we thought was coming, changed its mind. Pa Foday and Mako came for a NHA meeting yesterday and returned to Kabala this morning leaving Freetown at 5:30 AM. We've received word that they have made the trip and are safely at home in Kabala.

It was so hot last night that I gave up trying to sleep and took a shower at 3:15 AM. Cooled me off a bit, but not for long.

Saturday is laundry day. Every year when I go back home; there is usually one or two specific things that I appreciate more than others. This time, I'd have to say it is the washer and dryer. Washing jeans in a bucket of water gets old fast. Last year it was having a toilet seat on the commode, the year before being able to FLUSH a toilet was a big thrill. For Emily, I think she simply continues to long for Toast and Butter.

For those of you in Freetown, Mass is at St. Laurence House at 10 AM. Remember, Fr. Seraphim runs by the clock, not by African time, he will start Mass sharply at 10.

Other than Fr. Seraphim and I have a terrible rash from heat, we are all well, sweating and functioning.

More news soon, Love to all
