Little Roo, in Freetown, has finally received the lab results from his
blood, urine and stool tests: Malaria, Typhoid and Worms! Can you
believe it? 2 years old (wont be 3 until October)! He is making
improvement and has treatment for all of the illnesses. Remember its
only been a month since he recovered from mumps. Getting through
childhood in Sierra Leone is hard work, so much against you. Please
keep up the prayers, not only for Roo, but for all the other children
who are struggling the same as he is - most without the proper medical
attention he is receiving.
Both my husband and I have had malaria, fortunately for us we came
down with after returning to America and we had clean facilities, etc.
to deal with it in - in Salone, the story is quite different. With
our environment, and all that was available to us to comfort us during
the malaria bouts - I still have to say it was the worst illness I've
ever experienced. I will never forget the feeling of a locomotive
pushing through my head. I can't imagine dealing with this disease as
a child, I can't even comprehend how I would deal with such a horrible
illness at 2 years old - let alone, typhoid and worms. God bless you,
