On the road again...

Once again, James Mansaray takes to the road to deliver to villages in Sierra Leone.  He brings medications and supplies 

from the USA (crossing the Atlantic) to Sierra Leone - Nazareth House Apostolate is teamwork at its best.

Donated, collected and shipped in America, sorted, packed and distributed in Sierra Leone.  

The efficiency by which we accomplish the humanitarian work, despite our smallness, despite our lack of ample funding is amazing.    

God does BIG with little! 

It is the Nazareth House way to not only bring supplies in, 

but to instruct each village how to use what they receive.  And we don't stop there, we don't supply and leave.   

Once we find a new village, they become part of the NHA family and are revisited regularly - we will continue to check on them and keep them supplied.   We are a ever-evolving, ever growing, ever loving family at Nazareth House. 

There are many villages out there needing attention.  It takes money to ship the medications to Sierra Leone, it takes money to care for those in need.  

As the Holiday season closes in on us - think beyond the gifting and the partying of the Holidays... think of those without.

In Memorial of Andrew Abu Bakarr

This morning as I opened my facebook, I saw this post from James Mansaray of Freetown.  My heart sunk in memory of the horror the people of Sierra Leone suffered at the hands of greed. Andrew was going to be a lawyer and the rebels wanted him to join them in their wickedness.   His refusal cost him his life, hacked to death with a machete.   I need say nothing further, what is written is enough.

...this is only a single memory of a life snatched away, there are hundreds and thousands.  All Sierra Leoneans were touched by the icy hand of wickedness in one manner or another.  Everyone  either lost a loved one, had someone in the family that suffered an amputation or endured the atrocities themselves.

Please help Nazareth House Apostolate do all that it can to improve the lives of these peaceful caring people.   This horror was not rooted in them, it was rooted from outsiders who were driven by greed.

Please give today, as a memorial to those who lost their lives, their arms and legs:  Let's show them LOVE, selfless love.   Give today:

‎16 years today, Kabala was stormed by Revolutionary United Front rebels and sixteen years today my elder brother Andrew Abu Bakarr aka BIGGER BOY (To Be a Man is not easy) was brutally murdered by these evil men...... Sleep on bro. memories of you still lingers on as if it were yesterday. We miss you so much and wished there was a single picture of you to remember with. R.I.P.

    Ishmail Bintia Kamara Oh man God bless. You made me remember this day and the brutal murder of my man, (RIP) by those wicked monks. I could still remember seeing him a day before and the day he was killed lying down whilst his grave is being dug with very few people around.

    Vicki Hicks James, your family is our family. You know this. Though, I never met him, we remember Andrew with love. He is of great dignity, conviction and love. Today, Andrew is looking us over, and smiling at what he sees. You are a wonderful brother and have done so much to help your country recover from such wicked greed. Peace and Blessings, my son, we love you.

What are you waking up to this morning?

In Freetown, Sierra Leone today 

at Congo Cross, the day has begun.   

There is work to be done,  busy streets and boulevards,

There is growth to be made, 

roads and highways to be enlarged,  

 and prayers to be said.

 ...BUT poor little Roo lies on the floor with his "well-loved friend".   He has malaria.  

 Moment by moment the streets become more and more active.  

Taxi cabs and pedestrians dart from alley to street.  Papers fly in the wind and tin cans roll to the gutters.  
Rush, Rush...Everyone is "taking care" of business. 

...all the while,  ill children are lying on the floor like Roo throughout the city, the country - unnoticed by the day's activities.   


Roo is fortunate, because of you, through NHA, he has some medications available.  He has a roof over his head. Even so, malaria (any illness) is dangerous in Sierra Leone.  No one is exempt from its effects. The minimum healthcare efforts we depend on in America are a far cry above what a Sierra Leonean can hope for. 


 NHA can't cure it all or feed everyone, but working together, we can make a huge difference in many, many lives ---one life at a time .   


Don't look away, don't give up - don't undo in doubt what you began in faith.

Ann Marie - We missed you...

Many of you have been asking "Where's Ann Marie?"   We haven't seen her on the blog.  

After a brief visit with some relatives she is back at St. Laurence House - doing that "Nazareth House thing" - sorting medications 

and preparing them for proper distribution.  

It seems Ann Marie has found a secret note that my granddaughter, Jenna stashed away in a package full of medicines.

  Jenna and her little brother, Kelsay were very helpful in packing the box from Louisville, Kentucky.

  Now, it has arrived in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Oh Roo, your smiles always brighten our day!

As Mama Vicki recovers from surgery today, we've just lost a toddler again in Sierra Leone, ROO's best friend, playmate and neighbour.

Borbor as he is called met his untimely death after a high fever attack  last night. I guess another case of malaria. He dropped the young body before reaching the hospital.

 

Today ROO returns home from school without a friend.
My heart aches... Please keep Borbor's mother in your prayers.
